The Lethbridge Hurricanes play their final two pre-season games this weekend, both against the Calgary Hitmen.
For the second year in a row, the Canes' will entertain hockey fans in the Crowsnest Pass as they face-off Friday night in Coleman at the Sports Complex. The Hurricanes are 2-1-0-1 in their first four exhibition games, including a 7-3 rout of the Red Deer Rebels earlier this week. The Hurricanes highest-ever draft pick is expected to play Friday night as well. Jay Merkley will suit up for Lethbridge. He was selected third overall in this year WHL Bantam draft. Tickets for this game are $10.00 each.
The puck drops Friday night at 7pm (MDT). The two teams will close out the pre-season Saturday at the EDGE School in Calgary.
Canes' Trim Roster
Hurricanes management has done some trimming to the roster in anticipation of the start of the regular season next weekend. Since the Red Deer game earlier this week, the Canes' have reassigned Jaimen Yakubowski, Ryley Bennefield, and Sam McKechnie. I spoke with with Head Coach and G.M. Rich Preston today and he says they'll whittle down the roster after these two games. The Hurricanes have a some injuries as well. Berglund, Hulit, Tot, and Reners are all nursing injuries suffered in the pre-season. It's not known how long these guys will be out. No question that will impact Preston's final roster heading into the regular season September 24th.

Thanks! I just put it up on line a few hours ago. I've been thinking of re-tooling the look for a while. I thought the last site was a bit bland and needed a re-design. A new look for a new season I suppose!
