Hurricanes Announce Wellness Seminar with Gold's Gym

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have partnered up with Gold’s Gym for a fitness and wellness seminar on Wednesday - September 22nd, 2010 at Gold’s Gym (102B Mayor Magrath Drive South). Hurricanes Cason Machacek, Dylan Tait, Jacob Berglund and Austin Fyten will team up with Gold’s Gym trainers to provide members with the unique experience of learning from these highly conditioned athletes. The Hurricanes players are dedicated to year round fitness programs and continue to develop the techniques and practices to best meet their goals at the junior level and beyond. Hurricanes Strength and Conditioning Coach Steve Szilagyi from Crash Conditioning will also be on hand to help facilitiate.

“Things have changed a lot since back in the day…Whereas before players would come to Training Camp to get into shape – the hockey player of today has to maintain a high level of fitness throughout the season and in the off season to stay competitive” says Hurricanes Head Coach and GM Rich Preston “For the players to develop these good habits and techniques at this level will only help them as they pursue their goals in the sport and that is a message we continually emphasize with our players – the commitment to fitness and wellness will translate on the ice.”

The seminar will cover a variety of topics including weight training, plyometrics, ballistics and endurance training just to name a few. All members of Gold’s Gym are invited to attend this special event in which Gold’s Gym certified trainers will be on hand to facilitate a question and answer period with the players.
