Hurricanes in U.S. Pacific Northwest

Hello from Everett, Washington!

After a 14 hour bus ride, we finally arrived at our destination about 10 o'clock last night as the Hurricanes settle in for their first road trip of this still very young WHL season. The Canes' will have a day off today. They'll practice this morning at Comcast Arena before what should be a fun afternoon. As a team building exercise, all the players, coaches, hockey operations staff, and myself will be heading to a Major League Baseball game in Seattle. The Mariners take on the Oakland Athletics tonight. A few of the players, including myself have never been to a live M.L.B. game before, so this should be a real good time.

On Friday it'll be back to hockey mode for this team as the Hurricanes get ready to play three games in three nights, starting at the ShoWare Centre in Kent, WA when they take on the Seattle Thunderbirds. Seattle is 1-2 to start the season, while the Hurricanes are a perfect 2-0.

Injury Update

As of Wednesday, the Hurricanes have five players out with injury. Mark Reners is still out 1-2 weeks with a knee injury, Brandyn Hulit still has a head injury and is day-to-day. Brody Sutter is day-to-day with a shoulder, Reid Jackson is day-to-day with a hip problem, and the latest Canes' to suffer injury is the team's leading scorer. Austin Fyten is listed day-to-day with a shoulder injury. It isn't know at this time is it will have an impact on whether he plays this weekend or not. If Fyten does sit out, offensively, it would be a huge loss. Fyten leads the team is scoring with four goals and one assist in two games. We will find out more tomorrow.

Hurricanes Home Opener vs. P.G.

The Canes' 2010-2011 home opener is set for next Friday October 8th when they host the Cougars. It'll be the first of two visits to Lethbridge by Prince George this season. For tickets contact the Hurricanes office or the ENMAX Centre ticket office at 329-SEAT.

Thanks,
Pat

  2. Good luck fellas! I hope you enjoy a very successful road trip. Three games in three days against those particular teams won't be easy but we've seen what you're capable of. Come out of the gate running each game and you'll be fine.
