Hurricanes Holding "Pink in the Rink" This November

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will hold their 2nd Annual Hurricanes Pink in the Rink event on November 19th and 20th as the Canes' play host to Prince Albert and Saskatoon in WHL regular season action.

This event will once again serve as an opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer as well as funds for the Lethbridge chapter of the CIBC Run for The Cure in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. With the help of community-minded businesses as well as the fans, players and staff of the Lethbridge Hurricanes the organization once again hopes to raise funding and awareness for this great cause.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women. Men are not exempt from the disease either as one in nine will also be touched in their lifetimes. "The Lethbridge Committee for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is extremely excited about partnering with the Hurricanes for "Pink in the Rink". This should be a fun two nights for the young and the old", said run organizer Ginny Goulet.

The Hurricanes will be wearing specially designed pink jerseys that will be auctioned off in a silent auction format. All the proceeds will support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The CIBC Run for the Cure take place this Sunday. In Lethbridge, the event starts October 3rd at Exhibition Park in the Main Pavilion.

I also took part in last year's event. A few last minute donations and a challenge or two from listeners prompted me to shave my head with the rest of the team, making for a lot touque wearing until spring time! It was a lot fun, but best of all it was for a very good and worthy cause. Last season, the Hurricanes raised around $25,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Hopefully the organization can hit that number and possibly even more this time.

Thanks,
Pat
