Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey is On the Air!

After six long months of no hockey, the Lethbridge Hurricanes get back to business as they open a new WHL season this week.

This team has missed the playoffs four years in a row, so to say the only thing on the mind of these players is to make the post-season would be a huge understatement. Every player I interviewed prior to training camp mentioned the playoffs as being the major focus.

Our new broadcast season of Hurricanes Hockey starts Friday night, September 20th when the Canes drop the puck against rival Medicine Hat. It's the first half of a home-and-home series to start the year between the two teams and the first of 8 games Lethbridge and Medicine Hat will play against each other this season. For those players who are new to these two teams, they will find out in very short order that there is a huge dislike for the other. That's what makes this Highway 3 rivalry so much fun to watch!

Fred and I will be on the air at 6:30 with the Hurricanes pre-game show and our first coaches interview with new Head Coach Drake Berehowsky. The play-by-play will start shortly after 7:00 pm MDT following the introduction of the 2013-2014 edition of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, to what will more than likely be a sold out crowd at the ENMAX Centre. CJOC's Jordan Karst, who will be the game host during home games again this season will be broadcasting his afternoon drive show from 2pm - 6pm outside the ENMAX Centre as a tailgate party will be held to kick off this new season of Hurricanes Hockey.

During the course of the season, Fred and I will be running our post-game shows from the Lounge at the ENMAX Centre on Friday and Saturday night home games. We will be conducting player interviews and chats with the assistant coaches during our post-game shows. So folks in the arena are encouraged to come up and enjoy the atmosphere. Also throughout the season, home and away you will hear from all of the Canes assistant coaches on our CJOC post-game shows at some point.

Game time Friday is 7:00 pm MDT. Again the pre-game show on CJOC at 6:30. The Hurricanes are Tigers will do it again Saturday (Sept. 21) for the re-match and Medicine Hat's home-opener at 7:30. The Canes will take on Kootenay and Edmonton next week. Both of the those game are on the road. After the home-opener, the Hurricanes won't play back at the ENMAX Centre until Wednesday, October 2nd when they host the Calgary Hitmen.

Thanks,
Pat
