Brody Sutter Drafted by Carolina Hurricanes

One member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes was chosen at this weekend's NHL draft in Minnesota.

Forward Brody Sutter was a late pick, taken in the 7th round, 193rd overall by the Carolina Hurricanes. Brody joines his cousins Brandon and Brett along with former Lethbridge Hurricanes star Zach Boychuk as draft picks of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Interesting to note it's been a few a years since a member of the WHL's Canes' has been drafted outside his draft year. Sutter, is going into his overage year in Lethbridge this coming season is the first Lethbridge player since Mitch Fadden to go outside his draft year when Fadden was chosen by Tampa Bay back in 2007.

Brody Sutter is coming off a strong season in Lethbridge, recording 18 goals and 42 points, after missing a good portion of the early season with a shoulder injury.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Brody being drafted comes as no surprise.
He was by far the most improved Hurricane over the course of the season. He came back to the Canes with something to prove to himself and the club......he did!
Certainly we wish him well, but having Brody, Austin and Cam back as our 3 overages would give us one of the top lines in the WHL this season.

  3. I don't see Brody Sutter playing in the AHL yet. He needs to produce for a full season at the WHL level first. He needs to stay healthy first and foremost!
