The Lethbridge Hockey Hounds provided another financial boost to the Hurricanes Hockey Club at their annual dinner Thursday night.
Hockey Hounds President, Cliff Nelson and Treasurer Garry Eggli presented Hurricanes Business Manager Terry Huisman and Hurricanes Board Vice-President Brian Wichers with a cheque for $90,600 for the Education Fund. The money raised from 50/50 draws through the season is evenly dispersed to each game winning ticket and the Education Fund.
The Lethbridge Hockey Hounds have been proud supporters of hockey in Lethbridge for more than 40 years. Since their inception in 1971, the Hockey Hounds have had four main objectives, including contributing to the WHL Players Education Fund. Since that time they have surpassed $1 million dollars in contributions.
The Western Hockey League announced in November that a total of 305 WHL graduate players have been awarded WHL Scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year. For the season that means WHL Clubs will contribute $1.9 million to those graduates utilizing the scholarship.
