Hurricanes This Week

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have won just one game in their passed 8 as they get set for three games at home this week.

The Hurricanes play host to Moose Jaw Tuesday, Chilliwack on Friday and Medicine Hat Sunday. The Canes' have been struggling to find the win column as of late and penalties were an issue once again this weekend. The Prince Albert Raiders went 3 for 10 on the power play as they downed the Hurricanes 5-1 Saturday night at the ENMAX Centre. If this team is going to be successful this season, discipline is going to have to be a key focus from here on in. Lethbridge is one of most penalized teams in the WHL to this point in the season. The Hurricanes sit with 610 minutes in penalties through 28 games. The Canes' have lost ground to a few teams. Edmonton and Prince Albert are just a point behind Lethbridge and the Brandon Wheat Kings are two points back.

With six games to go before the Hurricanes hit the half-way mark in the season, getting a few wins before the Christmas break will be very important. Over the passed week the Hurricanes did get two players back into the line-up. Brody Sutter returned last Wednesday and has played the passed two games and Graham Hood came back on Saturday. If all goes well, the Hurricanes might get back both Michael Sofillas and Reid Jackson at some point this week too. It would be the first time in several weeks that the Hurricanes have had a healthy contingent of players.
