The Canes' are looking to pick up a few victories before the Christmas break December 19th. They have just one win in their passed 8 games. Hurricanes Head Coach and G.M. Rich Preston was a guest on Hurricanes This Week Monday night on CJOC and the "D" word came up a number times during our chat. Preston said his team "must be more disciplined and can't be giving opposing teams 6 to 10 power plays a game." Preston also said whether they agree with a call or non-call, they can't lose their focus. He notes even as a coach he's got to "guard against that too and try and keep his emotions in check." Preston says the coaches talked to the players Monday about being more disciplined and stick to playing hockey.
The Canes' are getting close to being 100% healthy for the first time in a long time. Preston said last night that Michael Sofillas will make his return tonight and is hoping he can get back to where he left off before being injured and playing strong with his line mates Alex Kuvaev and Graham Hood. Those three were clicking regularly before Sofillas and Hood got hurt. The only player still not ready to go is Reid Jackson. He's still battling concussion symptoms.
This will be the second meeting of the year between the Hurricanes and Warriors. Moose Jaw won the first meeting a month ago in Moose Jaw. Game time tonight from the ENMAX Centre is 7:00 pm (MST). The pre-game show on CJOC at 6:30.
Thanks,
Pat
