Let the games begin! Too bad Reddington is going to miss the first game due to a one game suspension ...I guess it could have been worse...Go CANES go!
ReplyDeleteLil maxwell is fast but man hes small, I saw a few games and practices. My opinion is things don't look good ..hope I am wrong

I hope the vets get pushed by this, because there is some good talent now waiting at home to take their spots. Good job to the 4 reassigned players. Forwards have a few changes and have looked good in preseason. Defence now looks like last year, hopefully it works this year better. Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteThe 94's were sent down to Midget AAA. They are ineligible for a roster spot with Canes this year. However, they can get called up for 5 games in each half of season as long as their midget coach okays it.
ReplyDeleteno, 94's are eligible to play full time...95's can only play 5 games, so Russell Maxwell can stay the full year :S
ReplyDeleteI was referring to the 94's that were reassigned. Once they are on a Midget roster, they cannot play here except for call up. I was trying to make the point that the 94's sent home cannot take a veteran's spot this year.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that none of Canes top 5 Bantam picks from 2009 could make the team as 16 year olds....that doesn't happen very often that at least the first or second pick doesn't make the team. It may be the philosphy that it is better to play and games in at a lower level than sit on the bench during the year. I am sure some of the will get picked up by Junior A clubs.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Brandon Anderson born in 1992 not 1994?
ReplyDeleteYep! It was a typo. I'll correct that.
ReplyDeleteGuiel has already been picked up by junior team
ReplyDeletecan anyone explain why russ maxwell is still there ? hes a good future hockey play but it was pre season , this is the whl..
ReplyDeleteMaxwells are good friends with McNaughton , who is Prestons boss, dot the lines and you see why some times this team make fans shake their head..

There certainly may be some political reasons to keep lil maxwell, but you have to give the kid some credit. He played very well and has lots of skill. For a little guy he managed to get the puck and avoid getting hit (where his size would be a disadvantage) at the few exhibition games I saw. Again, not saying there wasn't another reason to keep him, but give him his just dues too, because he has earned the chance too.
ReplyDeleteWhy the negatives? Did any of you see the home game against Red Deer? Yes, Russ Maxwell may be the size of a bantam player but he looked right at home EVERY shift with the Canes' veteran top 6 forwards. They were/are great, but not one other 16 yr old had the combined hockey sense, skill, and speed as Russ. The LA Kings list Brandon Kozun at 156 pounds and he did okay in the WHL...
ReplyDeleteHow many players are they allowed to keep on the roster?
ReplyDeleteim with the last anonymous. He played better than some of the vets that night and definetely was the best prospect all pre-season. Im not trying to put pressure on this kid but he has potential to be a good scorer in the league if he can put on a bit of weight by next. Have you guys not heard the term size does not matter anymore. Sure you have to have some big guys, but look at the tigers all there best forwards even dman are undersized and in my mind they might be the best team in the easern conference on paper this year. Id say give the guy a chance your shutting him down before you giving him a chance, pretty sure Boychuk, Kozun and Ennis did just fine
ReplyDeletehey pat i missed mondays show, is there anywhere a person can hear it..thanks
ReplyDeleteWe are working on getting the entire show loaded up onto our website like in past years. I will advise when that it up and running. Hopefully soon. A section will be created for Hurricanes hockey on the CJOC website and that's where these archived shows will be.
ReplyDeleteI remember how tiny Boychuk looked as a 16 yr old. I thought he was gonna get killed but he did great in his rookie season.
ReplyDeleteHey Pat. Would you be able to use your connections and charm and get an answer to a question I have. It relates to the post by Anon on 9/21 at 4:03 in regards to 16 year olds getting sent back to their midget club.
ReplyDeleteHow often and for how long can they be recalled by the Canes? Can they not be recalled permanently, or for say 10 to 20 games on and off?
Thank you.
