Lethbridge City Council Updated On ENMAX Renos

Members of Lethbridge City Council received an update Monday on the renovations going on at the ENMAX Centre.

Ashley Mathews, the Manager of Parks, Rec, and Culture for the City and the man still is charge of the ENMAX project told council the renos are still on-schedule and on-budget. He told council the facility will shut down April first and it will be a construction zone until September 30th. Significant changes will be made both inside and outside the building during that time. Mathews told CJOC News reporter Bryan Jeannotte, "the lobby and box office will be demolished and work will be completed as well on two new entrances to the ENMAX Centre, so people will notice a huge difference when they come to the next event in October."

How will this again impact the Lethbridge Hurricanes you ask? Well, Mathews talked about that too. "The Canes' will be relocated to the Adams Ice Centre again in north Lethbridge for their training camp starting in late August. They'll be moved back into the ENMAX Centre the first week of October for the team's home opener October 8th."

Mathews spoke about the new score clock that'll end up being the centre piece of the rink once the renovations are complete in late 2011 or early 2012. "A proposal for installation on the new scoreboard will come before Lethbridge City Council later on this year. We are out right now doing site visitations and looking at other video score clocks. We will be going to tender on this, getting a price in, and going back to council likely in August or September. Once the scoreboard is actually ordered, it'll take about four or five months to build it for us and then about three weeks to install and train staff to use it. This would be ready and operational for the fall of 2012."

Thanks,
Pat
