Carter Bancks Heading to A.H.L

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes are very proud to congratulate Captain Carter Bancks on his signing an Amateur Tryout Contract with the Abbotsford Heat, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Calgary Flames. This marks Bancks’ first pro deal who is coming off of the best WHL season of his career in Lethbridge. Bancks ended this season as the Canes 09-10 scoring leader with 55 points (19G, 36A) while racking up 7 PPG, 2 SHG and 96 PIMs. Bancks finished his WHL career with 262 regular season games, 58 goals, 120 assists, 178 points, 284 PIMs and a career +/- rating of +25. He was also an integral part of the Hurricanes 2008 Eastern Conference Championship banner and was a part of the Canes teams which advanced past the first round of the WHL playoffs in back to back seasons (07-08, 08-09) for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Captain Carter took home the most hardware of any Hurricanes player on Hurricanes Awards night this year with three awards in 09-10 – including the Harry Ingarfield Memorial as MVP. Just a few of the past winners of this Hurricanes and Broncos award include; Brent Seabrook, Bryan Trottier, Brian Sutter, Jeremy Jackson, Mark Smith, Juha Metsola, Wes Walz, Dom Pittis, Zach Boychuk, Jason Hegberg and Ben Wright. For Bancks, these awards add to his already impressive collection attained in a storied career. The 18th Captain in Hurricanes history was the 2006-07 Carl Trentini Memorial Award winner for the Hurricanes Rookie of the year, the 2007-08 Hardest Working Hurricane Award winner, the 2008-09 Hurricanes Most Popular Player Award (as voted by the fans) and after this season – a three time winner of the Hurricanes Community Relations Award. The Hurricanes would like to thank Carter for his contributions both on and off the ice to the Lethbridge community and wish him good luck in all of his future endeavors.

Thanks,
Pat

Thanks for the GREAT news, PAT!!

And I know the Canes wanted to spread the love around, but I'm sorry, giving the 'Hardest Working Hurricane' Award to Reddington was simply W-R-O-N-G !! (NO disrespect intended, but COME-ON Canes, WHO ARE YOU KIDDING??!!)

I sure hope that Carter gets his shot in the bigs. Trust the Sutters to recognize the potential in CB7. I will go to my first Flame game EVER if/when he gets to play. - Richie
