The Lethbridge Hurricanes are coming home with a three game losing skid.
The Hurricanes closed out what was a long six game trip with a 4-3 loss Monday night in Prince George. It was one of those rare Monday night games in the Western Hockey League, unfortunately for the Canes they were unable to end the road trip the way they started it.
Jayden Sittler, who's played the majority of games between the pipes for Lethbridge so far this season got the start in goal in this game. Things stayed scoreless until the final few minutes of the period when PG's Brad Morrison scored to make it 1-0 Cougars after one period.
In the second, the Cougars went up by a pair when Luka Zorko scored on a power play to make it 2-0 Prince George. The Hurricanes cut the lead in half when Brady Reagan scored his first goal of the season on a power play to get Lethbridge to within one goal. The team's ended up trading a pair of goals before the end of the period. The Cougars regained their two goal lead at the 16:34 mark when Jesse Gabrielle scored to make it 3-1 and then in the final minute, the Canes got back to within one goal again, when Brayden Burke put home his 5th of the season to cut the PG lead to 3-2 after two.
In the third, Prince George again jumped ahead by two when Chase Witala scored to put the home team ahead 4-2. Two minutes later the Hurricanes battled back again, with another power play goal. This time off the stick of Cory Millette, his 5th of the year. That made it a 4-3 game in favour of the Cougars with plenty of time left. The Hurricanes however just couldn't get the equalizer and would fall by that same 4-3 score.
The loss drops the Canes overall record to 10-5 in 15 games this season. Prince George out shot Lethbridge 40-28 in the game. The Hurricanes went 2/6 on the power play and PG 1/6.
So with the longest road trip of the season now in the books for Lethbridge, the team returns home this Friday (Nov. 6) to host the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds, the first of the U.S. Division teams to roll through the ENMAX Centre. The Canes will also be at home Saturday (Nov. 7) to play the visiting Kootenay ICE. After that it's back on the road, this time heading east to play in Brandon, Regina, and Moose Jaw November, 13, 14, 15.

Nothing wrong with coming back from the worst ( # of games and distances travelled) with a 3-3-0-0 record. 4 games in 5 nights and 5 games in 7 nights coupled with a horrendous travel schedule would take a toll on any club. Canes are still a younger team and are in the midst of a transition to Kisio style hockey. They were in 5 of the 6 games and costly turnovers and penalties were their demise. Canes still sit in 2nd place in the Central Division and have the best power play in the league along with a winning record.

Can't complain about this road record. This team is still impressing us. Under the last coach they would have given up and not kept on fighting. They are tired and road-weary. Not what the record they would have liked I am certain and they won't like excuses but the mrs. and I are happy to give them one. Welcome home boys.
