The Lethbridge Hurricanes’ Board of Directors announced Monday that the
organization and General Manager, Peter Anholt, have agreed to a three-year
contract extension.
Anholt was originally hired by the Hurricanes in June of
2014 as Assistant General Manager and was appointed Head Coach and General
Manager on December 10th.
Hurricanes President, Doug Paisley, says it’s an
exciting day for the organization, “The Board of Directors are extremely pleased
to announce that we have come to an agreement with Peter Anholt on a three-year
extension to continue to lead the hockey operations of the Lethbridge Hurricanes
WHL franchise.”
Anholt says he’s excited about the opportunity, “I’m really
excited that we got it put together. That’s the first domino that has to fall
and now we can continue to move forward and plan accordingly for our hockey
club.”
“I’d like this to be my last job,” continued Anholt. “I’m
54-years-old, I would like this to be my last job and if that could be the case
I would be here for an extended period of time.”
Anholt began his career in
the Western Hockey League as an assistant coach with the Prince Albert Raiders.
He has served as head coach of the Raiders, Seattle Thunderbirds, Kelowna
Rockets and the Red Deer Rebels. He was a scout with the Thunderbirds prior to
joining the Hurricanes organization.

Stability. Like it. Long Run
ReplyDeleteStill not sure how this is stability. They just signed a guy to a 3 year contract based on 1/2 a season. Seems to be the Hurricane way. My concern is that we are still on the same management lineage. Preston, Robson, Anhalt, all in the same group. We only hire the assistant GM rather than cutting the cord and starting brand new. interesting they do this on the day the Commish is meeting with shareholders.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how Anholt is associated with Robson or even Preston. Anholt was hired when Robson was Fired. Totally from outside source not within Hurricanes Ranks. Pats blog even states he was a scout for the Raiders when he was hired.
DeleteRobson was the assistant GM when Preston was fired. You might have your wires crossed a little on your info.
Anholt was the Assistant GM under Robson. He was working from home spending most his time on the road.
ReplyDeleteInteresting item in Taking Note by Gregg Drinnan, Kamloops (May 4) regarding the Blazers from Community owned to Private.......was not smooth sailing.....
ReplyDeleteCongrats Peter!
ReplyDeleteHuge turn around has begun under your watch.
The small things changing became noticeable by season's end.
Cheers to three more years!
