Hurricanes Release Import (F) Nikita Milekhin

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have trimmed their roster to 24 after releasing Forward Nikita Milekhin.

Milekhin was drafted by the Hurricanes 3rd overall in this year’s CHL Import Draft. The 1997-born winger played for Moscow Dynamo prior to joining the Hurricanes where he registered 21 points, including 13 goals. In 16 games with the Hurricanes, Milekhin had 4 points (1G, 3A), was a minus-6 plus/minus rating and had 2 PIM’s. Milekhin will be returning home to Krasnogorsk, Russia this week.

With this move, the Hurricanes roster is now down to 24 with 2 goalies, 8 defencemen and 14 forwards.

  1. Just another example of poor drafting/player selection by the former GM. What a colossal waste of the 3rd overall Euro pick. Well one good thing is that the former GM will not be around for the Canes 2nd overall Euro pick in 2015.

  2. Definitely don't agree with this one. Why even draft euros if you never give them a chance to shine. If you add up all of his ice time would you get close to 30 minutes. There are other players on this team that are given lots of chances to shine and don't even give off a faint glow. GREAT for the team to go into the break with a couple of wins. Happy Holidays

  3. Have the Canes fired the son of the worst GM in the history of the league?
