Hurricanes Deal Olynek to Moose Jaw

The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced a trade Monday, acquiring Miles Warkentine from the Moose Warriors for Kolten Olynek.

At 6’0, 189 pounds, Warkentine was the Warriors former 1st round (16th overall) Bantam Draft pick in 2011. The right winger from Prince Albert, SK played 65 games with the Warriors this past season where he registered 12 points (3G, 9A).

The 5’8, 165 pound Olynek was drafted ten spots (26th overall) after Warkentine in the 2011 Draft. The Saskatoon native finished with 12 points (4G, 8A) in 57 games played this season. Prior to that, Olynek was called up to the Hurricanes for four games during the 2012-2013 season where he scored his first career WHL goal against the Saskatoon Blades.

Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager Brad Robson likes what Warkentine brings to the table. “He’s a big strong kid with good speed and quickness. Like Olynek, the trade helps both players giving them a chance to excel with the change in scenery. This will be a positive move for Warkentine and the Lethbridge Hurricanes moving forward.”
