Kootenay ICE Hammer Hurricanes 8-1

LETHBRIDGE - The Kootenay ICE exploded for five goals in the first period as they easily skated by the Lethbridge Hurricanes 8-1 Friday night at the ENMAX Centre.

The Hurricanes were able to hold the ICE off for the first five or so minutes, but the visitors did end up striking first on the score board. Luke Philp scored for Kootenay to give the ICE a 1-0 lead. In the last half of the period, the ICE would keep the offence coming in a big way with four more goals in the final 7:30. Jaedon Descheneau, who's been red hot all season scored his 35th goal of the year to give the ICE a 2-0 lead. A few minutes later Kootenay would go on the power play, when Sam Reinhart hammered home a shot, beating Jonny Hogue to make it 3-0 Kootenay.  The Canes got one of those back right off the draw at centre ice when Riley Sheen was sprung free and he beat Mackenzie Skapski to cut the ICE lead to 3-1. That was Sheen's 13th goal of the season. Kootenay though would get two more before the end of the period to take a commanding lead. Tim Bozon was set up with a one-timer and ripped a shot by Hogue to make it 4-1 and then shortly after Luke Philp notched his 2nd of the night to make it 5-1 Kootenay after 20 minutes play. The ICE out shot Lethbridge 17-11.

In the second, the ICE would add to their already sizable lead. The Canes started the period with a goaltending change and Kootenay managed to get to Teagan Sacher early. That goal made it 6-1 ICE. After that though, Sacher settled in and was brilliant for the remainder of the period. Kootenay continued to pepper shots at the Lethbridge goal and Sacher was solid the rest of the way. The score remained 6-1 ICE after 40 minutes of play. Kootenay fired 19 shots at Sacher in that period and held a 36-18 edge shots.

In the third, the ICE would add to their lead. Tim Bozon would complete the hatrick when he beat Teagan Sacher with a shot over the glove hand. That gave the ICE a 7-1 lead. Before the end of the game Kootenay made it 8-1 with a goal by Zach Franko. That would be it and that would end what was a rough night for the home town Lethbridge Hurricanes. The ICE out shot the Lehbridge Hurricanes 43-24. The ICe went 1/4 on the power play and Lethbridge 0/3. The loss drops the Canes overall record to 11-40-2-3 in 56 games this season.

McNaughton: "I feel very confident that we are headed in the right direction". Guess he is referring to riding the down elevator.

  3. Yup. An-ny season now.... The Drake's systems will kick in. Shouldn't be much longer.... Just need the boys to buy in, and the wins will stack up big time... Heck, might even win 20 games if everything goes right!

Recipes by the Board of Directors:

    Failure on Ice -

Hire a GM with NO previous WHL GM experience.

Hire a Head Coach that has ONE year of coaching "experience" - Where he coached-up his previous team to a year end place in the final conference standings where ONLY FOUR teams MISSED the playoffs with more points than his disaster.
1tsp - Trade away and lose all players who call the coach out on his "systems."
2tsp - Continue to lose games by increasing margins with all the new players that the new coach says he needs to fit into his systems.
3tsp - GM, Coach, Board of Directors - When about to set a FRANCHISE "WORST" RECORD FOR WINS AND POINTS IN A SEASON, Tell the shareholders and fans, "Be patient.... Everything is going according to the Master Plan! - It just appears like we are losing just as often and by more goals.... REALLY, we're IMPROVING every game, our metrics PROVE IT!!"

Get rid of McNaughton and anyone on the board who thinks he is acting intelligently ... or at least in the best interest of the hockey club.
    Get rid of Robson
    Get rid of Drake
    Keep Twister

    Money for Nothing.
