Hurricanes Receive Record Donation From Hockey Hounds

The Lethbridge Hockey Hounds gave a huge financial boost to the Hurricanes Hockey Club with a cheque in the amount of $132, 800 Thursday evening.

The money raised from 50/50 draws throughout the season were evenly dispersed to each game winning ticket and the Hurricanes Education Fund. The amount raised during the 2012-2013 season was also a 36% increase over last year’s contribution.

“The 50/50 draw is for the good of the education fund in assisting our current players in pursuing their education after their playing days with the Lethbridge Hurricanes” stated Business Manager Terry Huisman.

Since their inception in 1971, the Hockey Hounds have had four main objectives, including contributing to the WHL Players Education Fund and they’ve surpassed the one-million dollar mark in contributions.

The Hurricanes have paid all our current players education cost as well as more than a dozen former player’s education costs.
