INNISFAIL - The Red Deer Rebels shutout the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-0 Friday night in Innisfail.
The Rebels getting goals from Muller and Mayor in the opening 20 minutes and then in the second, Dalton Siwak made it 3-0 for the Rebels. Red Deer followed that up with a couple of more goals in the final frame en route to a 5-0 victory.
Lethbridge was outshot heavily in this game, 40 to 17. Tanner Kovacs started in goal for Lethbridge. The Canes made a goalie switch after the 3rd Rebels goal. Johnny Hogue played the rest of the game.
The Hurricanes are now 0-2 in exhibition play with four pre-season games remaining before the regular season begins September 24th. Lethbridge will play it's third game in three days Saturday when they travel to Medicine Hat to take on the Tigers.
The Canes will host the Tigers next Tuesday at Nicholas Sheran Arena. That'll be the only "home" game for Lethbridge during the pre-season schedule.

Just a wake up call that for at least this year it will be the veterans like Fyten, Braes Sutter Johnston, Jackson Anderson that will determine success this year..this is not an easy league to step into.
ReplyDeleteFrom looking at the game summary sheet it looks like it was a fairly chippy hockey game. Will Adam Henry get a suspension for the hit to the head penalty?
ReplyDeleteThe penalties did not help last year and probably will not help this year. Especially against Red Deer who are ranked in the top 10 of all CHL teams this year.
Looking at the game sheeet only three players for Lethbridge played in the Dub regularily last year. Kizik Ramsay and Hood the rest were rookies. So not that bad of a result. The peanalties are a concern though.
ReplyDeletePreston must want to see what everyone can do. Exhibition games are the place to learn about the players abilities.
