  1. Good to see Phil Tot back in the line up...with 31 players on th roster time for some tough decisions...should be an interesting week. TD

  2. I'd like to know the lineup for the defence in this game. Obviously gave up a lot of chances defensively.

  4. would be nice if the lineup was right too! Tot didn't play, neither did Pilon, shots were not accurate nor were who got penalties. There were defensive issues for sure, some did not look good at all, horrible actually, others looked really good. Can't wait to see how the cards fall!

  5. Thanks TD. Appreciate the info. I listened to the Round Table last night with Pat and the boys and they all were suggesting that 1 or 2 16-17 year old defenceman were ready to play the year with the Hurricanes, but after seeing the shots on goal for these games, I'm not so sure they're ready for a 72-game WHL grind!! Erkamps and Pilon have been getting lots of press, but I'm not sure they're ready.

  6. I totally agree with you justwinbaby...I think only one of the 16 year old D men will stick....if the scoring is going to be light on the front end you need to be strong on the back end. I have a feeling the top 4 dmen will get a lot of ice this year TD

  7. justwin...Pilon can't play for the Hurricanes this season as he turns 15 next month. Preston wishes that he was old enough to play now. He will be able to play just 5 games. Erkamps will be the only 16 yr old on the blueline, along with Merkley, Watson and Leverton as the 16 yr olds up front.
Fyten's injury, Sutter's return will all have a bearing on how the Canes do with a very young club this year.

  8. Agreed to both. Just read on Pat's recent blog that Erkamps will be the only young d-man kept. I think that is best at this point. I know the veteran defenceman aren't stars in this league, but they are the ones with the experience and will be needed to pass that on to Erkamps. If the playoffs are out of reach at the trade deadline (this is a long way off obviously) it would make sense to move a couple of the older d-men.
