Hurricanes @ Chilliwack Tonight

KELOWNA, B.C. - The Lethbridge Hurricanes take on the Bruins in Chilliwack tonight.

The Canes' head into this game two points back of Prince Albert for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and one game in hand on the Raiders as well, that being this evening. The players unloaded the bus and had a good, brisk practice on Tuesday in Kelowna before resting up for this game tonight. This is essentially a battle of two teams fighting for their playoff lives. Both hockey clubs sit in the 9th place in their respective conferences. The Canes' are a couple of points behind P.A. and the Bruins are 5 points behind Kamloops in the West. I would expect you will see a pretty fast-paced game with both teams pulling out all the stops. Essentially, playoff hockey before the playoffs. Points are at a premium with just a handful of games remaining in the regular season.

The Hurricanes are coming off a 5-2 loss in Edmonton last weekend while Chilliwack beat Prince George in their last game on Sunday. The Bruins are lead by Ryan Howse who has 46 goals, 28 assists for 74 points this year. He's clearly the guy the Hurricanes have to keep close watch on in this game. Roman Horak and Kevin Sundher are having very good seasons for Chilliwack too with 66 and 64 points respectively.

Before are a few pictures of the Hurricanes arriving and practicing Tuesday at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Trainer Carolyn Glover is pictured below as well. They'll play the Rockets in Kelowna on Saturday night before heading back home.

Tonight's game from Chilliwack starts at 8:00 pm (MST). The pre-game show on CJOC at 7:30.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Without sounding like doom and gloom,(likely will anyhow). I wonder where the Hurricanes are going to make up the 10 points that PA will likely get in their last 9 games? The Raiders have already cashed in 2 points with their win over SC last night, and with 4 games certainly look like they will produce 8 more points,(SC-2, Reg-1, Cal-1)it would mean the Hurricanes would have to win 5 of their last 9 just to stay even. Just where are they going to get those 10 points? If and when the Hurricanes are eliminated from the playoff picture, I hope that Preston plays Moser, Tarnasky, Tot, Kuvaev a lot more in order to find out just who wants to be back here next year. (I doubt that the Russian will be back).
