Hurricanes @ Spokane Chiefs

SPOKANE, WA. - The Lethbridge Hurricanes will play their first of a two-game road trip tonight south of the border.

The Canes' will take on the Spokane Chiefs at Veterans Memorial Arena. This will be the only meeting of the season between the clubs. Lethbridge will be in Tri-City tomorrow. The Hurricanes are 0-3 vs. U.S. teams this season, losing in Seattle, Everett, and Portland back in early October. The Canes' arrived here in Spokane on Wednesday afternoon and had a swift practice yesterday (view from the Spokane press box in the picture as the Canes' practiced). The Hurricanes hope to build off a big game New Year's Day when they scored 8 times en route to an 8-2 victory over Swift Current. These are going to be two tough games for Lethbridge, as the Chiefs and Americans are two of the hottest teams in the WHL right now. Spokane has won four straight games and as well as 8 wins in their last 10. Tri-City's record is nearly identical in that same stretch.

I think if the Hurricanes can stay out of the penalty box, that might be "THE" key to coming back home with a few points here in the States. Spokane has the 3rd best power play in the league right now and Tri-City sits with the best PP overall. If the Canes' want to be successful this weekend, staying out of the box is a must.

Mike Reddington will play his former team in Spokane for the first time since getting traded to Lethbridge at the start of last season along with Landon Oslanski. Reddington was a member of the 2007-2008 Chiefs that beat the Canes' in the WHL final and went on to win the Memorial Cup. He should receive a pretty nice reception here this evening.

Game time is 8:00 pm (MST). The pre-game show on CJOC at 7:30.

Thanks,
Pat

  2. Spokane is excellent, so a win against them may have been too much to ask, however, two questions.
    1. Why is Anderson still in net at after 6 goals?
    2. The guys keeping stats in Spokane don't have any +/- stats posted on all the Spokane goals. Is Preston overplaying the studs again?
