Brody Sutter Invited To Sabres Development Camp

Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Brody Sutter received an invite to the Buffalo Sabres 2010 Development Camp.

The camp is taking place this week in Lewiston, New York. Here's a link to the list of players, including Sutter who were invited by the Sabres.

  1. This invite tells you something about how the Pro game is generally run in most cases.

  2. Congrats to Sutter! It's nice to see him being recognized for once!!! At almost 6'5" Sutter is a great skater with unbelievable hockey sense and play making abilities! He would make a great 1st line centre this year!

  3. Is there another 6'5 sutter out there? If not, please let me know where you go to smoke whatever during intermission. Either that or I have to say hi Mrs. Sutter. Hope to see you at a few games this season. Good to see you pay attention to Pat's blog.

  4. I have to agree. Body Butter would be dynamite as our top line center. Can we clone him?

  5. Before we attack the kid with anonymous blasts, let's remember he's just 18. You don't have to like him, but let's go easy on him on the blog.

  6. Why do you Hurricane Fans hate Sutter so much?! He has never been given a chance to succeed. Let's see you guys try playing with the likes of Dustin Donaghy, Neil Tarnasky, Phil Tot, and Mark Reners all of those guys are bad hockey players with the exception of Tot who will be a good player once he develops. Give the kid a Consistent chance to play with good players and play Specialty teams and see what he can do before you rip the kid apart. What were you guys doing with your lives at age 18, probably nothing like myself.

  7. It would seem to me that you should offer Neil Tarnasky and Mark Reners the same courtesy you are asking these folks to give Brody Sutter. They are the same age. Let them develop too.

  8. Good point, cc. It isn't the end of the world even if hockey doesn't work out. Sit down and talk to Brody Sutter, he's a very nice kid with a good head on his shoulders. I hope anonymous blasts from fans don't make him doubt himself.

  9. I am a HUGE sabres fan and I attend their summer camp every year. I thought Sutter was a very good player who played well. He was better than our 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks and did not look out of place at all. I will be very disappointed if he is not invited back to main camp. He had a couple of points and a goal in the 2 games they played and was carrying the puck with confidence. Hopefully the kid doesn't read these blogs cause you guys (for the most part) rip him apart. - John T

  10. Thanks for the feedback John! It's great to hear from someone outside of Lethbridge about how Brody is progressing. There's no doubt he struggled with the Hurricanes last season in the WHL but it appears he has come much more prepared for this season. That's great for Brody, the Hurricanes and the Sabres! Thanks for taking the time to put up a comment here.

  11. We pay to see these players. This is a for profit business people. If they want to be immune from criticism don't play in the WHL. Athletes, such as high school sports are a different story. If these kids want to play at the highest level, they can learn to deal with the good and bad. There have been countless athletes who have used newspaper clippings as motivation for decades. Hopefully Brody is reading and this will spur him on. Spite can be the best motivator if taken with the correct mindset.
