Sbisa Heading to Portland

From Gregg Drinnan:

Lots of small deals today but Portland made what I think is a big one, getting D Luca Sbisa from Lethbridge. Portland gets Sbisa, 19, a 2010 first-round import pick, and a 2011 fifth-round bantam pick for D Daniel Johnston, 17, F Jacob Berglund, 18, and a 2010 first-round import pick.

I'll have more on this in a bit.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Im sure this is just the start -- lets get to the nitty gritty. Is Bancks going or staying? Has Sutter found a new home? Is Rowat going to keep working for us?

  2. Again, I expect the Hurricanes to release more information to me in the next little bit. I do expect there is more to come than just this announcement. I believe that's why it's taking so long to make the official trade announcements.

  3. The any delay is usually caused by the wait for the WHL to approve any and all deals.

This team is certainly going to be Preston's making as gone from the previous regime are Beach, Ahston, Orfino, Tajdeh, Henke, Sbisa, Mestery. Mayabe I missed one or two others.

Question is: will Bancks end up in Kootenay? I think Rowat will stay in order to anchor this even younger and more inexperienced team.

  4. Yes I did forget one, Cody Castro, who the Tri Cities have sent down to the States.

  5. And Garrett Taylor, who was released early in the season only to be picked up by PA.
