Hurricanes Trade Ryckman to Tri-City

Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager/Head Coach Rich Preston announced today the Canes have traded 19-year old defenseman Derek Ryckman to the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a 4th round WHL Bantam Draft pick in 2012.

Ryckman, a native of Red Deer, AB is also one of the team’s Assistant Captains this season. So far in 2011-2012, the 19-year old has registered 1G, 1A, a minus 7 plus/minus rating and has 21 PIM’s in 11 games. Ryckman has played his entire WHL career with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and in that time has played 164 games with 29 points (6G, 23A), he’s a minus 8 plus/minus rating and has 211 career penalty minutes.

On the trade, Preston said “Derek Ryckman has been a real good competitor for the Lethbridge Hurricanes since his 16 year old season. We wish him the best of luck in his career with the Tri-City Americans.”

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are back in action tomorrow night, October 17th at 7pm, when they host the Kootenay ICE.
