Hurricanes Host Calgary in Home Opener

It's the date many Hurricanes fans have been for since mid-March.

A good crowd is expected at the ENMAX Centre as the Hurricanes play host to the Calgary Hitmen. The Hurricanes enter this game 1-1 on the season, while the Hitmen are 0-1. Newly acquired overage forward Matt Marantz is expected to be in the Lethbridge line-up. Head Coach and G.M. Rich Preston told me yesterday that Marantz will add some insurance for the Canes, given the fact they don't know how long Austin Fyten will be out of the line-up. With that, it appears goaltender Damien Ketlo, who the Hurricanes picked up in a recent trade from Regina is going to be dealt. Preston said he's spoke with Ketlo about the situation and also stated there are a few teams in the WHL in need of a good goalie.

A number of Hurricanes players are going to get their first chance to play at home in front of the local fans in a regular season game. The game will begin shortly after 7:00 pm (MDT), following the pre-game ceremonies and introduction of the 2011-2012 Hurricanes.

Fred and I will be on the air with the CJOC pre-game show beginning at 6:30, LIVE from the new Steve "Foggy" Falwell Media Centre, located on the east side of the ENMAX Centre. Should be fun and can't wait!

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Well done boys. You got the job done.

Nice changes in the Enmax. Score clock definitely adds to the experience. Programs were very impressive with ots of both pictures and content. 50-50 pot was the largest I have seen in years. So was the crowd for that matter.

    Repeat against Regina tomorrow?
