Hurricanes @ Medicine Hat

The old Highway Three rivalry is renewed tonight, when the Hurricanes take on the Tigers in Medicine Hat.

This will be the second meeting of the season between the two clubs and first of two games they'll play against each other this week. The Hurricanes won the first meeting 3-1 back on opening weekend, also in Medicine Hat and given these two teams are separated by just one point in the Eastern Conference standings going into action tonight, makes this game and the one on Sunday back in Lethbridge that much more important. The Tigers are coming off a 2-1 win last night in Calgary.

Both teams have winning records heading into this game too. As for the Hurricanes, they're hoping a break-out game last weekend when they beat Brandon 6-3 will be somewhat of a turning point for this team offensively. Head Coach/GM Rich Preston told our weekly Monday night talk show, Hurricanes This Week that he hopes to see more of that kind of play from his team as the season moves on, especially on home ice.

Brody Sutter is back on the injured list. The Hurricanes forward played a couple of shifts last Saturday night against Brandon and left the game shortly after re-injuring the shoulder that's kept him sidelined for the entire regular season so far. Sutter told CJOC this week that it's believed he's got some nerve damage now. Sutter had his shoulder x-rayed and it is not broken. That's the good news. He expects to be out another week or two. Austin Fyten was on Hurricanes This Week on Monday. He told Fred Jack and I that his fractured foot is starting to feel much better. He says he'll see the doctor again tomorrow and is hoping for nothing but good news and he can pick up where he left off before the injury. Fyten has missed 8 games in a row.
Tonight's game in Medicine Hat is a 7:00 pm (MDT) start. The pre-game show on CJOC with Fred and I at 6:30.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Hurricanes game plan.

    1. Drive to Medicine hat.
    2. plug noses
    3. Dodge staggering fans as they grab another burger and beer. Neither one is needed as this will probably be the 10th round by warmups.
    4. Win
5 Get the hell out of there as soon as possible to avoid brain drain. Shower in Lethbridge due to the fact they probably treat thier sewer water with a coffee filter. Just assuming given past encounters with tiger fans.
    6. Dump all garbage out the window to improve the city's appearance and smell.

    2. Find a pooch.
    3. *$^# the pooch.
    4. Run home with tail between legs.

What an embarassing effort, and if I feel this embarassed, the players must feel like they are ready for a girl's bantam league.
