Canes Aquire D-Man From Calgary

The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Friday that the club has acquired 1999-born
defenseman Ty Prefontaine from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in the 2017 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Prefontaine, 17, was originally a draft pick of the Prince Albert Raiders in the fifth round (95th overall) in the 2014 Bantam Draft. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan product has appeared in 11 WHL games, three with the Raiders and eight with the Hitmen, collecting one assist and four penalty minutes.

The left-handed 6’2”, 189 pound Prefontaine is expected to be in the line-up tonight as the Hurricanes host the Prince George Cougars at 7:00 pm.
