It was an up and down week for the Lethbridge Hurricanes taking 3 out of a possible 6 points.
The Hurricanes had a rough go at it Wednesday at home, letting go of a one goal third period lead to the Kelowna Rockets. The visitors scored five times in the final period to come back and beat the Hurricanes 6-3.
The Hurricanes rebounded on the road Friday down south, beating the Spokane Chiefs 5-3. The was followed Saturday by a close 6-5 shoot out loss to the Americans in Tri-City.
Jesse Zaharichuk and Tyler Wong each had a 5 point week for Lethbridge, while Ryley Lindgren and Brayden Burke each scored 4 points.
The shots were even 27-27 in the Kelowna game, while Spokane out shot the Hurricanes 33-18 on Friday. On Saturday, Tri-City out shot the Canes 37-25.
The Hurricanes record now sits at 4-2-0-1 on the still very young season. That's good enough for a 4th place tie in the Eastern Conference, just two points back on first place Swift Current. Of course, it's only week three and the cream of the crop in the conference has yet to separate from the rest of the teams.
The Hurricanes are back home now for three games in four night this week. On Wednesday (Oct. 12) the Canes host the visiting Victoria Royals. On Friday (Oct. 14) the Vancouver Giants come to town and then on Saturday (Oct. 15) it should be a solid Eastern Conference battle as the Regina Pats visit the ENMAX Centre.
Thanks,
Pat
