Canes Collect 3,320 Stuffed Animals in Teddy Bear Toss

The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club would like to thank Lethbridge for their amazing generosity.
On Saturday night, the Hurricanes collected a total of 3,320 stuffed animals and 546 toques for a total of 3,866 donations on the 20th Annual Canadian Tire Toque and Teddy Toss.

Cory Millette scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal just 4:06 into the first period to send the barrage of bears and toques over the boards and onto the ENMAX Centre ice. Millette added another goal in the third period, while Justin Gutierrez scored twice and Darian Skeoch and Barrett Sheen added the others as the Hurricanes defeated the Red Deer Rebels by a 6-2 score in front of 4,748 fans.

The total of 3,866 donations is 928 more donations that what was collected last year in the 19th Annual Canadian Tire Toque and Teddy Toss.

All of the stuffed animals and toques collected have been distributed to a number of organizations, including: Chinook Regional Hospital – Pediatrics Ward, the Interfaith Food Bank, Piikani Youth Centre, the RCMP Victim Services Unit, Blood Tribe Police, Head Dress Society, Salvation Army, Streets Alive and 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union on behalf of Lethbridge Family Services Angel Tree for Kids.

The Hurricanes would again like to thank all of those who participated and generously donated to this worthy cause.
