The Lethbridge Hurricanes made a second move on the eve of the WHL’s January 10th trade deadline.
The team acquired Mike Winther from the Kamloops Blazers for an 8th round WHL Bantam draft pick in 2017.
Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager and Head Coach, Peter Anholt says “Winther, a 2nd round draft pick (54thoverall) of the Dallas Stars in 2012, is a veteran at the WHL level. He’ll come in and provide leadership and help in the transition of our hockey club.”
Winther started his WHL career with the Prince Albert Raiders before joining the Calgary Hitmen in 2013 and the Kamloops Blazers this year. In 271 regular season career games, Winther has 158 points (76G, 82A) and 198 PIM’s.
Winther is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow when the Hurricanes host the Calgary Hitmen at 7:00pm.
