ICE Hand Canes 7th Straight Loss

Tim Bozon scored twice as the Kootenay ICE beat the struggling Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-1 Friday night in Cranbrook.

The Canes had trouble generating offence most the game as they were out shot 48-26 when it was all said and done.

It was scoreless through 20 minutes of play in this game. Robidoux made his 8th consecutive start in goal for the Canes as Stuart Skinner remains sidelined with injury.  Kootenay though got things going in the second period with a pair of goals. Tim Bozon opened the scoring at the 8:36 to make it 1-0 ICE. Bozon scored again in the final minute to give Kootenay a 1-0 lead through 40 minutes of play. That late goal really took the wind out of the Canes sails.

The Hurricanes scored their only goal 26 seconds into the third period when Taylor Cooper beat Wyatt Hoflin to cut the lead to 2-1. Kootenay got that back very quickly. Just 25 seconds later Levi Cable scored to restore the one goal lead for the home team making it 3-1. It stayed that way until the last minute. That's when Rinat Valiev scored into an empty net to give Kootenay a 4-1 lead and then with just 5 seconds to go, Jaedon Descheneau notched a power play goal and the ice would skate away with a 5-1 victory.

The loss drops the Hurricanes overall record to 5-13-3-1 in 22 games this season. The Canes have lost 7 games in a row as they try and find a way to get out of this funk. The Canes last win came October 29th against Prince Albert, a team this play Sunday at the ENMAX Centre.

Another issue for the Hurricanes is scoring. They've scored a league-lowest 53 goals so far this season. They must find a way to generate more offence in order to try and get things fixed.

The Canes are back home Saturday (Nov. 22) when they host Moose Jaw. The Warriors are 9-11-2-1 on the season. Prince Albert will play in Lethbridge Sunday. That's a 4:00 pm face-off.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Surprise surprise. Another loss for DB in his quest to set another record (worst) season.

DB and Robson only have a few players left from the roster that he inherited from Preston, yet the losses keep piling up. When are the two of them going to figure out that THEY are the biggest reasons that this team stinks as badly as it does?

LOVE that Sakamoto is going to be involved with this club. Maybe he could find some time to coach and manage the team as well!

What did Carter Fold do to get his name on Robison's most hated list? (Listed as tbd suspension on WHL site) I watched the game, then watched the replay of Folk's penalty a few times. The hit earned him a simple 2 minute minor for charging. Opponent had the puck. Folk didn't leave his feet prior to the hit. Opponent was trying to avoid the hit, which might have made his head the first point of contact; difficult to tell for certain. No boards were involved. Opponent wasn't injured; he just bounced right up and skated away. If the player wouldn't have tried so hard to avoid being hit, Folk's would have ran him directly over. Must have been something else?? Anyone know?

And yet,... off I go to the rink... Just in case!

  2. Ken. Your so wise! Since you watched the game last night did you not notice the two players on Kootney that pretty much carry the team( Reinhart- Bozon) This team was in last place until these two came back. Please tell me what players we have that can compare to these two? I am sure that if we had top talent like that we would be a contender for the playoffs. You need to look at the top teams and look at there lines and talent. Read What Dylan Purcell wrote in the paper, it all makes sence. You can't win with one line. We need more talented players bottom line.
