Hurricanes Down Raiders 5-2 at ENMAX Centre

The Lethbridge Hurricanes earned their 4th win in their last 5 games with a home ice victory over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders Wednesday night.

The Hurricanes were looking to rebound after a lopsided loss in Regina last Sunday. This was the second time in less than a week that Lethbridge and P.A. would hook up. The Canes got things going in this game when Tyler Wong scored his first of three on the night at 12:41 mark of teh first period to give Lethbridge a 1-0 lead. That was his 3rd goal of the season. The Hurricanes added one more before the end of the period. Andrew Neilson notched his second goal of the season a few minutes later to make it 2-0 Lethbridge after one period of play.

In the second, the Hurricanes would add to their lead. Tyler Wong scored his second of the game and 4th of the season to put the Canes on top 3-0. The Raiders though would get back into this game in a hurry with a pair of goals in the final three minutes of the period. Darcy Zaharichuk beat Zac Robidoux to cut the Canes lead to 3-1 and less than two minutes later Marcus Messier scored to cut the Lethbridge lead to 3-2 after 40 minutes.

In the third, the Canes would put this game to bed. Captain Jamal Watson scored early in the period at the 1:39 to put the home team ahead 4-2. It stayed that way until the final minute of the game when Tyler Wong scored his hatrick goal into an empty net and that sealed the game. The Canes went on to win it 5-2.

The victory improves the Canes record to 5-9-0-1 in 15 games this season. Lethbridge out shot P.A. 34-33.

The Hurricanes next game is at home Friday (Oct. 31) when they host Reid Duke and the Brandon Wheat Kings. Game time from the ENMAx Centre is 7:00 pm MDT.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. The lads played a good game last night. Let us hope they can take that confidence and attitude into the game Friday when Pilon, Duke and Erkamps return with Brandon.

  2. Solid effort last night. Zac was really steady, nothing facing but gave the kind of goaltending the team needed for 60 minutes. It will be a very emotional and tough test Friday when the worst deal ever arrives back in Lethbridge for the first time. Since it is Halloween there will likely be more than the usual number of Booo's from the crowd.

  4. It looks like losing to the Hurricanes can cost you your job. Well, losing twice in a row for sure.

  5. You're right Redline Cory Clouston is no longer the coach of the PA Raiders.

  6. Clouston needs to look for work with a team like the Hurricanes. There is no merit given to player concerns and he wouldn't have to accept a morsel of responsibility for his embarrassing team record.
