Hurricanes Support Angel Tree Campaign

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have been doing their part to spread some “Christmas cheer” this holiday season.

Last month, the Hurricanes players rolled up their sleeves, pulled out the paint and glitter and decorated Christmas ornaments for the tree. Those ornaments were sold at the Hurricanes game on December 1st, with all the proceeds going to families in need. The team managed to raise $1,000 from the sale of the ornaments and they donated the funds to Lethbridge Family Services’ Angel Tree for Kids campaign.

The campaign, which is sponsored by 1st  Choice Savings & Credit Union, is vital in our community to make sure no child goes without this holiday season. “The opportunity to donate the money raised to the Angel Tree for Kids campaign is just one way our players can give back to the community that continues to support us” stated Lethbridge Hurricanes Communications and PR Manager Esther Madziya.  She added, “this is all about the kids and making sure they have something to open on Christmas Day. As hockey players we are very fortunate and blessed to do what we do and there’s no better feeling than being able to give back and put a smile on a child’s face.”

Accepting the donation from Josh Derko, Russ Maxwell and Brady Ramsay was Lethbridge Family Services Interim CEO, Sonny Zgurski and 1st Choice Savings & Credit Union 3rd Ave. Branch Manager, Denise Clarke. The Hurricanes would like to thank everyone who purchased the ornaments because without the fans support, today’s donation would not have been possible.
