Canes Trade For Moose Jaw D-Man

The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced after their game in Moose Jaw they have acquired Defenceman Tyler Bell from the Warriors for a 3rd round Bantam pick in 2014.

With six Defenceman on the roster, Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager Brad Robson has been in the market for another blueliner to patrol the backend. In acquiring the 1994-born Bell, Robson feels he’ll be able to bolster his defence and fit in well with the young core the team already has in place.

The 6’2, 198 pound Bell was with the Kamloops Blazers before being traded to Moose Jaw midway through the 2012-2013 season. In 23 games this season, the native of Regina, SK has 5 points (1G, 4A) and 44 PIM’s. He’s played in 146 career WHL games with 26 points (5G, 21A), a +1-plus/minus rating and 197’s PIM’s.

Bell is expected to join the Hurricanes for practice on Thursday.

  1. It looks like a good deal for the 2013-14 Canes.

By the numbers, he is a year older, taller, heavier, and meaner version of the reliable and always dependable Lenny Hackman. (I wonder if there was even a conversation about Moose Jaw's other '94 D-man, Travis Brown). Bell can throw some big bodyshecks, and will drop the mits.

Hopefully Derko and Bell have short memories...

It looks like they both feel the same way about Mitch Moroz

This one is much more complimentary to Bell.

This was Bell's second fight of this game. The first coming after Klimchuk instigated following Bell ringing a Pats' bell.

That one reminds me more of my junior high sock-hops than a WHL tilt, except if memory serves, she would usually serve up a couple of over-hand rights about half way through the dance.

Coming to the aid of a team-mate who was hit dangerously from behind.
