Hurricanes This Week: Media Roundtable

A new era of Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey starts Monday night, September 16th on 94.1 CJOC.

Hurricanes This Week is back on the radio at 7:00 pm MDT and we open things up with the Media Roundtable.

Joining myself and Fred Jack in-studio will be Paul Kingsmith from Global TV and Dylan Purcell from the Lethbridge Herald. With what has been maybe one of the most eventful, and busiest off-seasons in the Hurricanes history, there will be plenty to discuss on our first program of this new season. No question the one word to describe the Hurricanes the past 6 months would be "change". Everything from in the office, behind the bench, logo and jersey. It's been a whirlwind of change and every few weeks, the hockey club was making some kind of announcement, keeping the Hurricanes in the media spotlight, even during the height of summertime.

We will discuss several topics on our first show. We will take a look at the past season, the sweeping changes, the outlook for this year, which players to watch for, and more. Of course, if you can't tune in live, you will be able to download the show the following day from the CJOC website. Just follow the links to Hurricanes Hockey.

CJOC is proud to once again be the broadcast voice of the Lethbridge Hurricanes and we hope fans are as excited as we are to get this season underway. There has been a lot of excitement from a fan base which has been starving for a winning team. Starving for playoff hockey! The hiring of Drake Berehowsky, Brad Lukowich, Mike Craig, and Jeff Battah is part of this overall new direction. No question these new coaches will be under some pressure to win, win often, and be consistent throughout the season. They're all about structure, systems, and accountability. I think we will see a whole new brand of hockey starting this year. Let's face it, these coaches aren't coming to Lethbridge to reinvent the wheel and start from scratch. There is a strong group of returning players and some very solid young talent waiting in the wings. Now it's about development, getting everything from each and every player on this team and there's no doubt in my mind that if these players buy into what Coach Berehowsky is selling, this is going to be a very fun team to watch.

Over the course of this season, Fred and I will interview all members of the coaching staff, some of the people in charge of the business side of the hockey club, members of the Hurricanes Board of Directors, several players, the WHL Commissioner, and other guests from around the Western Hockey League. We hope you enjoy the one hour program. After our first show, GM Brad Robson will be our guest for our second show on the year on September 23rd.

It should be fun, so sit back and enjoy the new era of Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey!

Thanks.
Pat
