The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced Tuesday the reassignment of Defenceman
Thomas Lenchyshyn and Forward Zach Goberis.
Lenchyshyn, 16, was the
Hurricanes 1st round, 18th overall pick in the 2012 Bantam draft. The Steinbach,
MB blueliner had 9 points (1G, 8A) and 91 PIMs with the Eastman Selects of the
MAAAHL last season. In one preseason game played with the Hurricanes, Lenchyshyn
notched two penalty minutes.
Goberis, also 16, played in two preseason
games with the ‘Canes and notched one assist with the team. Goberis hails from
Arvada, CO and had 65 points (24G, 41 A) and 56 PIMs with the Colorado
Thunderbirds U-16 AAA last season. Goberis was picked by the ‘Canes in the 4th
round, 87th overall in the 2012 Bantam draft.
The releasing of
Lenchyshyn and Goberis leaves the ‘Canes with 28 players remaining on the
roster. Of the 28 players, three goalies (Corbin Boes, Jonny Hogue and Chris
Tai) remain fighting for a spot, as well as 16 forwards and 9 defenceman.
The remaining roster players will continue with the preseason schedule
Wednesday, September 11th, when the ‘Canes take on the Medicine Hat Tigers at
the ENMAX Centre at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the game cost $10.00, with children
six and under getting in for FREE. Full proceeds from the ticket sales are going
towards Lethbridge Minor Hockey. Tickets for the game will be sold on a CASH
ONLY basis at the Northwest entrance of the arena.
