  1. Happy with the effort, love the coach interaction with the players, couple good young kids that are going to make final cuts tough. Might have to see some trades to get some more young kids on the team? Long Run

  2. Solid effort tonight. Calgary was playing their third exhibition game and it showed early on, but there were adjustments, yes adjustments in the second period. Canes are fast, and the coaching staff is making use of the speed as the pursuit of the puck was continuous. What impressed me most was the constant coaching at the bench by all three coaches. Every opportunity Drake, Brad, and Mike talked to players when they came off the ice. Duke played like a man possessed and he could be huge this year. Despite the one mistake by Jensen, both he and Kennedy (16yr olds) looked very poise on the blue line. Johnny Hogue was steady. Word will get out that this version of the Canes will be very tough to play against. Could be wrong, but it appears that one vet is having trouble adjusting his game to the new coaching.
Looking forward to seeing the Hat on the 11th.

    Calgary used 1-20;5-19; 3-18; 8-17;2-16's. Canes used 2-20;4-19;5-18;4-17;4-16's.

  3. Amazing to see coaches ... coach

Three things became evident to me in this very impressive pre-season game. Reid Duke is the Canes' best offensive player. Jake Virtannen is the Hitmen's most noticeable offensive player. The officiating is as pathetic as ever.

  4. Can't pass up the opportunity, to comment on Mike Sofillas 's ad in the Herald today. Class act by a very classy young man. I remember the first time I met Mike at the Mem Cup in Brandon; he had been drafted by the Canes and as a 15yr old was really excited about the opportunity. Even then I was impressed by his intelligence and how articulate he was. (Pat can attest to that). I can only speak for myself, but I wish Mike all the best, and know he will do very well in whatever he pursues.

  5. Have to say very impressed with the effort of the players and coaches! Duke is every bit deserving of hid top 30 ranking for the draft. Far and away the best player on the ice last night. Not a perfect game a few mistakes that I am sure will be worked on at the next practice. After seeing how some of the young kids played I can see some moves coming involving some veterans.

I am also sure the coaching staff will be raising the bar for the next game and if the Canes keep improving and hitting the bar they will be scary good! Talent and ability are there!
