The Lethbridge Hurricanes scouting staff will be kept busy through the Christmas holidays keeping a close watch on nearly a dozen of their draft picks who are competing at the prestigious Mac’s Tournament in Calgary.

As always, the tournament runs from December 26th through January 1st, 2013. The Lethbridge Hurricanes are proud to announce that 12 of their draft picks have been selected to play which is the most among all the Western Hockey League teams. Prince Albert follows with 11 players, and Medicine Hat, Regina and Saskatoon each have ten. The players are:

97-Born Players:

Last year’s Mac’s Tournament featured 11 players – 6 of whom are currently on the Hurricanes roster – Ryan Pilon, Reid Duke, Tyler Wong, Joel Topping, Lenny Hackman and Christopher Tai. The five have combined for 40 points (5G, 35A) through the first half of the season while in goal Tai has a record of 2 and 1 in his 3 games played.

  1. If the pre-tourney games are any predictor, we may be in for a beating at the WJ this year. It may be the first year in a while (14 years?) with no medal for Canada??

I look forward to seeing some good news for the Canes in this year's Mac's Tourney!! - Richie.

  2. Brad Robson's comments on your last show Pat leads me to believe not all of these young draft picks will be with the team next year.

Richie.....don't be fooled by one game. The team didn't play very well, but let's cut them a little slack for the jet lack I'm sure they were feeling. Also, for a guy who is so critical of the referring in the Dub, you should be a little more critical of the reffing in the Finnish game. It was BRUTAL for both sides.

I think we'll see a better Malcolm Subban as well as a better team overall in the upcoming games.

Good point about the Mac's tourney Richie. Coach Oester has a pretty talented team. Hope they play as well as they are capable.

Good luck Horns and go Canada!
