Hurricanes Trim Roster Again

The Lethbridge Hurricanes trimmed their pre-season roster by one Friday by reassigning Kolten Olynek to the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget Triple A Hockey League.

The 16 year old Saskatoon native was the Hurricanes 2nd round (25th overall) Bantam pick in 2011 and played in three of the four Hurricanes preseason games. In the Canes first preseason game against Calgary, Olynek scored 5 minutes into the game and narrowly missed scoring on a penalty shot. Olynek finished the pre-season with the one goal and now returns to the Contacts where he had 50 points (21G, 29A) in 42 games last season.

With today’s transactions, the Hurricanes preseason roster is now down to 25 with 3 goaltenders, 8 defencemen and 14 forwards.

The Canes will close out their preseason this weekend at the “Thunder Challenge” in the Crowsnest Pass. Lethbridge will play the Kootenay Ice on Friday, September 14th and Calgary on Saturday, September 15th. For ticket information on this event, contact Chad Petrone via email at chad@logomotives.ca or tickets can be purchased at the door.
