Hurricanes at Brandon Wheat Kings

MOOSE JAW, SK. - The Lethbridge Hurricanes will put a four game winning streak on the line tonight when the travel to Brandon to take on the Wheat Kings.

The Canes' have beaten Kootenay, Kamloops, Medicine Hat, and Calgary in this recent stretch of victories over the past week. The Wheat Kings are coming off a 5-2 win at home Thursday afternoon versus the Tigers. Lethbridge pulled out a 6-3 victory over Brandon a few weeks ago back at the ENMAX Centre, but I expect a different Wheaties team tonight. When the Wheat Kings played that game in Lethbridge October 30th, they were finishing up a very long two week road trip. The Canes' got on the Wheaties early that game and never looked back. The Wheat Kings should be a much stronger group tonight playing at home.

Lethbridge forward Austin Fyten is getting close to returning. He's been out of the line-up since early October after fracturing his foot. The hope is that he'll be back in the line-up next weekend when the Hurricanes play host to Prince Albert on Friday, November 19th. As for the Hurricanes other injured forward, Brody Sutter is still a week or two away from trying to get back in the line-up again. He's been out with a shoulder injury all season and pre-season. He returned to action a few weeks ago and played only three shifts before leaving that game after re-injuring that same shoulder.

Head Coach/GM Rich Preston is hoping the line of Kuvaev, Sofillas, and Hood continues to play well. Those three have been the Hurricanes most dangerous during this recent win streak. Michael Sofillas will be retuning to his native Manitoba for the first time this season and is looking forward to playing in front of friends and family.

After tonight's game, the Hurricanes will head back to Moose Jaw where they will play the Warriors for the first of four meetings between the two teams this season. Tonight game from Brandon starts at 6:30 (MST). The pre-game show on CJOC at 6:00.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Tough loss for the boys tonight. Congratulations to Reners for the two goal effort! Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that 4 goals and 2 assists in the last four games? It's great to see as the kid works hard and deserves it!

Let's make things right tomorrow night and start a new winning streak!

  2. Actually, Mitch Maxwell scored the Hurricanes second goal to tie the game 2-2. It was a typo on the WHL site, but it was clearly Maxwell who scored. Nonetheless, Reners has been playing much better hockey and could've had another goal or two throughout this game.
