Hurricanes @ Saskatoon Blades

SASKATOON, SK. - The Lethbridge Hurricanes hope to build off a strong performance a few nights ago in Regina as they get set to take on the Saskatoon Blades tonight at the Credit Union Centre.

The Canes' played a strong game in a 4-3 come-from-behind win on Wednesday against the Pats. It was a much needed victory for the Hurricanes too. They were able to improve to 4-4-0-2 in the Eastern Conference standings. It was sure nice to see the power play score. That turned out to be a very important goal. I think that was the turning point in the game for Lethbridge. It gave them some energy and in the end it payed off with a shootout win. Also, two of the Hurricanes three goals in regulation time were scored by defencemen. That's an area the coaches wanted to see more production from and they got that the other night.

Just like Wednesday in Regina, tonight the Canes' will look at getting some revenge. The Saskatoon Blades blanked the Hurricanes 4-0 in Lethbridge last Saturday evening. The Blades received some very strong goaltending from Adam Morrison in the win. Despite out shooting Saskatoon, Head Coach & G.M. Rich Preston said his team didn't play very good at all in that game. He'll be looking for a stronger effort in this one. Over the past number of seasons, the Hurricanes have played quite well on the road in Saskatoon. They'll be hoping that trend continues this evening. The Blades come into this game with a record of 8 and 2. That ties them with Red Deer for top spot in the Eastern Conference with 16 points. The Hurricanes will have to keep tabs on Saskatoon's top line tonight. The line of Hamilton, Viedensky, and Nicholls was excellent last weekend in Lethbridge. Interesting to note that three of the Hurricanes four wins have been on the road and out of the Hurricanes 10 points, 7 have been recorded away from the ENMAX Centre.

Yesterday was a practice day and travel day for the Hurricanes. The team had a hard, swift practice at the Brandt Centre before loading the bus and heading north to Saskatoon. Last night we did a little team bowling, had supper, and settled in for the night.

Game time tonight from Saskatoon is 7:05 (MDT). The pre-game show on CJOC at 6:30.

Thanks,
Pat
