Canes' Heading East This Week

Perhaps a change of scenery will get the Lethbridge Hurricanes back on the winning side of things.

The Canes' will jump on the bus late this afternoon as they head east to Saskatchewan for three games in four nights this week. Lethbridge will take on Regina Wednesday, Saskatoon Friday, and Prince Albert Saturday before returning home next week for a couple of games.

The Hurricanes dropped their first three out of four games at home over the past two weekends, including a 4-0 loss to Saskatoon this past Saturday and a 3-2 shootout loss to Regina. Maybe the best thing for the Hurricanes, as Associate Coach Matt Kabayama put it on our post game show the other night is the fact they have a chance to get a little revenge against the Pats and Blades less than a week later. Since starting the season 2-0, the Canes' have just one victory in their past seven games and sit with a record of 3-4-0-2 and 8 points, which right now is good enough for a four-way tie for 7th spot in the Eastern Conference. I know it's still early in the season, but the standings are starting to a little more shape now. It looks like there will be some pretty good battles for spots as this season moves along.

Lethbridge needs to find a way to score more goals too. Through 9 games this season, the Hurricanes have only hit the back of the net 22 times, which ties them with Kelowna for the lowest goals for total in the WHL to this point. Perhaps the Canes' will be able to kick start things on the road this week.

No Hurricanes This Week

CJOC's weekly Hurricanes talk show will not air tonight. Because of the Alberta civic election, our station will be providing live two hour coverage of the election locally between 7:30 and 9:30 pm (MDT). Hurricanes This Week will be back next Monday, October 25th at 6pm with the Hurricanes Media Roundtable.

Thanks,
Pat
