Three Hurricanes Heading to NHL Camps

The Western Hockey League is proud to announce that 145 WHL players have been invited to attend NHL training camps in September. All of the 145 players attending NHL camps are eligible to return to the WHL for the 2010-11 season.

Of the 145 WHL players set to attend NHL training camps, 95 were selected in the NHL Entry Draft and 50 are free agent invitees. 31 of the players who are attending NHL camps have been signed to NHL entry-level contracts.

All 22 WHL Clubs will send at least one player to an NHL training camp. The Portland Winterhawks boast a whopping 13 players who will attend NHL camps, which is the most of any WHL Club, while the defending WHL Champion Calgary Hitmen will see 10 players head to NHL camps.

Each year, WHL graduates make up a significant percentage of players who play in the NHL. In 2009-10, WHL graduates accounted for over 21 per cent of all players who played at least one game in the NHL.

The three Hurricanes going to pro camps this year are Cam Braes, Brandon Anderson, and Brody Sutter. Braes is heading to San Jose, Anderson will attend Washington's camp, and Sutter will go to Florida. All three are free agents and received camp invites. 2. No. He's going to Florida's. He was invited to a summer camp with Buffalo and did quite well from what I understand. This fall he was invited by the Panthers. As an undrafted player, he can attend any pro camp he's invited to.
