Mitch Maxwell Done With Bulls

Mitch Maxwell's season with the Lethbridge Bulls is over.

The Hurricanes forward and the baseball club have mutually agreed to end his season because of a nagging wrist injury. Maxwell injured his wrist during the hockey season, but the daily grind of the baseball season hasn't allowed it the heal. So for the good of his hockey career, he won't be playing any more baseball this season.

Maxwell was in his first season with the Bulls and was used mainly as a designated hitter and infielder. The club has added Jay Johnson for the remainder of the regular season to fill the roster spot vacated by Maxwell.

  1. Not sure the thinking around playing baseball with a wrist injury if your focused on a future hockey career. The Canes are 6 weeks away from camp and his wrist not being healed is not a great sign for someone who should be a leading scorer for the Canes this season. The good news is there are a lot of good 20 year old forwards out there in the league who will be looking for spots if he is not 100%

  2. Word is Pat he may be done with the Canes for a while too. Apparently he has been diagnosed with a broken bone in his hand, after suffering some type of injury with the Bulls. Who knows what this means for him to be able to start the WHL year on time.
