It was certainly great to get away from everything for a few days. My wife Nicole and I did a lot, seen a lot, seriously ate a lot, gambled a bit, and walked a tonne! I even have a nice sunburn to show for it, but hey it was better than shovelling snow back in Lethbridge for a few days! Vegas is one of my favourite spots no doubt. Here are a few picks of our little holiday.
Here we are in front of the waterfalls outside the Wynn.
Above are pictures of the fountains at the Bellagio, the Tahiti Village Resort which we stayed at, and The Eiffel Tower outside the Paris Hotel. I had to lay down on the ground to get that shot. Me outside the New York New York and Nicole posing across from Ballys and the Paris. It's a great city and lots of fun. If you are ever in Vegas or you have been before, go check out the buffet at the Rio. I've never seen so much food in my life! It took Nicole and I literally two hours from start to finish. You have to pace yourself at a Vegas buffet if you want to sample a bit of everything. The Rio buffet is the most popular in Vegas I've been told and well worth every penny. It was fun, it was hot, between 27 and 33 every day. Can't complain about that. We had an interesting trip across the border at Coutts driving down to Great Falls, MT to catch the plane. That's whole new blog post on it's own! Anyway, just thought I'd throw on a few pictures of our trip!
Congrats to the Hitmen
I have to tip my hat to the Calgary Hitmen for winning the WHL Championship Friday night. I'm not surprised. The Hitmen had a lot to prove. They've had great regular seasons the past few years and then died in the playoffs. Not this year though. Perhaps the Moose Jaw Warriors, who had the now league champs down 3-1 in their opening series in March woke up the big bad bear. It almost seemed like Calgary cruised on beating Medicine Hat, Brandon, and Tri-City to win it all. It should be fun to watch Calgary and Brandon go at it at the Memorial Cup over the next couple of weeks. Perhaps, the Mem Cup final will be an all WHL finale. That would be great to see.
Canes' Losing Money
There's been a few rumours floating around Lethbridge the past couple of months that the Lethbridge Hurricanes are going to be losing a significant amount of money, like between 300 and 400 thousand dollars from this past season. Here's an article from Saturday's Lethbridge Herlad in which reporter Dale Woodard talks with the Canes' Governor Herman Elfring about all that. http://www.lethbridgeherald.com/content/view/187505/124/. To sum it up, Elfring told the Herald the Hurricanes will have a six figure loss, but it won't be in the 300k to 400k range like it's been rumoured. Obviously there are a number of factors in play like the renovations at the Enmax Centre, a struggling team that only had 20 wins all season, and a few others. Give it a read!
Thanks,
Pat
When did this BLOG become a Vacation blog? What happened to HOCKEY?????
ReplyDeleteOK, enough already of the personal vacation in Vegas. That kind of information belongs on Facebook or Myspace. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A HOCKEY BLOG!
ReplyDeleteWell, forgive me for being a bit personal for once! My goodness. If you read past the vacation stuff, there's more about the Hurricanes at the end of the post. Other WHL bloggers have posting things other hockey on their sites. I don't see what the big deal is. I've had people tell me that I'm not "personal" enough with my posts some times. I guess you can't satisfy everyone. I suppose if you don't like the personal stuff, skip over it and read on. Relax!
ReplyDeleteOther Bloogers (I have checked) do not put their personal vacations, etc on their sites. They stick to hockey and sometimes other sports. If those "others" want to know so much about your personal life, then add them to your Facebook or MySpace. Are you that arrogant to think that we hockey fans want to know all about your personal life?
ReplyDeleteI liked the vacation photos. And it's not like there's a lot of WHL hockey going on now....
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the plug, Pat.

Actually Rod Pedersen and Jon Keen have, over the past number of weeks put up some photos of their vacations on their blogs. I certainly don`t see why it is a big issue with a few folks. I`m sure there are people, like yourself who don`t care to see or read that stuff and that`s fine, I understand and respect that. I can tell you that I`m certainly not an arrogant person. I was just having some fun with my blog at a time when things have been a bit quiet in Hurricanes land. Sorry to bore you with my personal life! I`ll try to keep things a little more directed to hockey for now one.
ReplyDeleteScrew him. One person who posts back to back blogs within a minute of each other trying to look like 2people. At least he could have waited a couple hours to make it look like it was different people. This is one idiot who is not that bright obviously. This guy obviously has no life of his own so he cares way too much about a couple of paragraphs having to do with somebody finding joy in life. Pat good on you for posting all comments, good, bad or ignorant. Don't take a hater being a hater personally. If he wants his 30 seconds back he should just not reply and waste his time typing.
ReplyDeleteThis is your blog. Report what you want. Really the Canes losing money is not hockey news but you still report it. Hopefully the person who cares this much about the integrity of a "hockey blog" had a nice mothers day. I hope he was nice enough to get up, make breakfast and take it upstairs to his mom. The other 364 days must suck having such a loser living in her basement. I'm just glad that natural selection (and women’s standards) has already made it impossible for him to have kids of his own via the old fashioned method.
Keep up the good work Pat on keeping us up to date on all things Hurricanes and beyond!

ps, Pat you don't have to justify yourself to this guy by checking how others use their blogs. The fact he took the time to check other bloggers and go through their histories says a lot about that person and what kind of small life he leads. I am assuming you are a man because I have never met a woman as stupid as you appear to be. Find a better way to kill your lonely nights. I don't hate you Pat because you have a female who willingly travels with you.
nice ass shot behind your wife on the first pic!
