EDMONTON - The Lethbridge Hurricanes have chosen forward Remi Laurencelle 157th overall in today's WHL Bantam draft.
Laurencelle is from Winnipeg and played with the Warriors. He's 5 ' 8 and 140 pounds. He's the 7th players chosen overall by the Hurricanes in the draft on Thursday. The Hurricanes did not have picks in the 6th or 7th rounds.
Laurencelle scored 32 goals and 30 assists for 62 points in just 28 games. "We had Remi ranked high on our list and as such were surprised but very pleased to have the opportunity to draft him at the position we were at in the 8th round," said Brad Robson. "He's a very skilled player with good high end speed, a good head for the game and the ability to put the puck in the net, you could compare him in some ways to a Mitch Maxwell type of player."
The Canes' picks so far:
1. (C) Jay Merkley
2. (C) Craig Leverton
3. (D) Macoy Erkamps
4. (D) Joel Topping
5. (G) Ryan Ferguson
6. (F) Jamal Watson
7. (F) Remi Laurencelle
Thanks,
Pat
