Hurricanes @ Oil Kings

The Hurricanes hit the road tonight for game in Edmonton.

Rexall Place has been a kind building to the Hurricanes over the past three seasons. The Canes' have won twice there this year already and have also won all four meetings between the two clubs this season. The Hurricanes and Oil Kings will play twice this weekend. Edmonton comes to Lethbridge on Sunday night. Both tems have 12 games to go in the season. The Hurricanes lead Edmonton by 4 points in the standings.

The last time these teams hooked up just over a week ago at Rexall Place, Cam Braes scored two goals including the game winner with just over a minute to go to give the Canes' a 4-3 win, ending what was a nine game losing skid. It'll be interesting to see if this game tonight will be as wide open as the last meeting. The Hurricanes out shot the Oil Kings 51-40 last Wednesday in that victory.

We'll find out more later today on the status of Captain Carter Bancks. He was injured and left the game Wednesday after blocking a shot off his forearm in a 4-1 loss to Swift Current. I spoke with Head Coach/GM Rich Preston late yesterday morning and at that time he still didn't know the extent of Bancks' injury. Preston assumed at that time that it might have been just bruised, but right now whether he'll play tonight in Edmonton isn't known.

After tonight, the Canes' return home tomorrow to host Kootenay. Game time tonight is 7 o'clock. The pre-game show on CJOC at 6:30.

Thanks,
Pat
