Game Day: Hurricanes vs. Spokane

The Lethbridge Hurricanes hit the ice tonight at the Enmax Centre as they host the Spokane Chiefs.

This game marks the return of two former Hurricanes to Lethbridge. Kyle Beach and Michael Tadjdeh both played last season with the Canes' before they were traded to Spokane early this season in separate deals. The Hurricanes are coming off a 2-1 victory in Swift Current on Wednesday. It's was the 20th game this season that the Hurricanes have been involved in that was decided by a single goal. Lethbridge is 8 and 12 in those 20 one goal contests. This will also be the last of the U.S.-based teams that the Hurricanes will face this season. A few Hurricanes will play against their former team tonight too. Dustin Donaghy, Mike Reddington, and Landon Oslanski were all Spokane Chiefs when this season started back in September. If anything, this game surely has a few interesting story lines to follow.

Lethbridge has won it's last two games and hope to make it 3 in a row. This is also a very special weekend for the Hurricanes. Tonight and tomorrow, the Canes' will wear special pink and blue jerseys in support of breast cancer in the first annual "Pink the Rink" event at the Enmax Centre. Fans have a chance to bid on the jerseys during a silent auction that'll take palce during both home games this weekend. The auction closes after tomorrow's game versus the Hitmen.

The 2010 Olympic Torch is also expected to make an early stop in Lethbridge tonight. It'll be at the Enmax Centre for a pre-game ceremonial face-off at centre ice. That should be the start to what is expected to be a good weekend. The Hurricanes are ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 15-23-3-2 while the Chiefs are sitting tied for 3rd in the Western Conference with Portland with a record of 25-14-3-1.

Game time is 7 o'clock. The pre-game show on CJOC at 6:30.

Thanks,
Pat

  1. Don't forget to wear your pink shirt Pat!

I remember when Beach was traded to Spokane for Reddington and Oslanski, he said that he and Reddington had issues when Kyle played for Everett. Will that come into play tonight?
